Greetings from VBSalumni.
We want to invite you back to the site as many updates have been posted.
I will attempt to send a quarterly update
as to where the site is and what is going on. The information will be
just outlined quarterly. You can always
get up to the minute updates just by visiting the site.
We would like to welcome the newest members of the VBSalumni membership.
all the 2002 graduates.
Congratulations as you start your new life "After High School".
Our site is growing daily and more additions
are being put in all the time.
we are setting up a VBS Alumni Council where members can help with individual
schools and classes to ensure
we are up to date on what is happening. As of right now Council members
have not been assigned as they are
completely voluntary. There will be board members also up for the asking.
Positions from President all the way to
Class reps and school reps. If you would like to become a council member
just email me at webmaster@vbsalumni.org
We have added a VBS Alumni Calendar to mark important events and happenings
through out our alumni. to add
to the calendar please email me at webmaster@vbsalumni.org
for the password.
We are working hard on our new chatroom which is projected for August
2002. The new chatroom will be
written in Java and will not have the psycadellic screen flashing like
the basic chatroom posted now. With the new
chatroom it will be in real-time and will also have the option for private
chats along with separate chatrooms dedicated
to school reunion planning where alumni can all meet from anywhere around
the world to plan that special reunion or
other events. This will also provide an online chat where you can meet
your friends or meet new ones through out our
Alumni. I am very excited about this and I know you will love it when
it goes live.
**Exciting news** After almost 7 months after the "go Live"
date of our site we have been accepted to be posted / listed
on YAHOO.com. This is an important event as Yahoo is the worlds largest
database of the web. We are also listed on
many search engines too, to include Google the largest Search engine.
This will help our site reach everyone and make
it easier to find for those who don't know we exist.
On a sad note our friend / alumni John Gordon (PA Class of 1991) has been
diagnosed with lymphoblastic lymphoma.
He has started chemotherapy on 6/29/02. He will be in the hospital for
4 - 6 weeks and the chemo will run for 6 months.
The cure rate with initial treatment is between 50 and 70%. I have posted
a page for you to submit words of caring to his
online "get well" log. This can be found on the site "Today
Page" and "News Page" Please let us all wish him a speedy
recovery and express our thoughts and prayers to him and his family during
these hard times.
Up and coming.. A couple School Alumni sites and VBS will work in parallel
to promote this site and the individual school
sites.
A new section will be integrated to allow clubs from the schools can set
up "group alumni"
Example. Cheerleaders Greenrun 1994 page, Band Kellam 1989 etc.
Member emails, This will allow our alumni to communicate from a single
base. i.e. "YourName@vbsalumni.org this
will be a great way to keep in touch with your friends. It sets up a network
of friends with a common interest.
The yearbook needs pictures from you. Old school photos, Now and then
pictures, and reunion pictures.
PA Class of 1991 has their reunion (10 year) posted check it out.
In closing as always you are the key to make this site grow. Please pass
this site around to all you know and spread
the word. You have made this site what it is today and after 4 years of
this site running it has never been better than it is
today. I want to personally thank you for making this site the best it
can be. If you have any comments or suggestions
please email me at webmaster@vbsalumni.org
Thank you very much for your membership and help to keep this site the
best it can be.
Sincerely
Jim Bunker (Jamey / James) Bunker
President
